Cellulite is one of the most common skin conditions today and mainly among the post-adolescent women. Girls, you are not alone. Some sources state that at least 80% of women have cellulite (even others speak 98%!), it is extremely common regardless of body type, weight and… level of fame (ask the Kardashians!).


But what exactly is cellulite? Cellulite is define as “deposits of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue (as in the thighs, hips, and buttocks) that give a puckered and dimpled appearance to the skin surface” (http://c.merriam-webster.com/medlineplus/cellulite), so the goal of any cellulite treatment should be get rid of the already accumulated fat and reduce or avoid its accumulation again.


However, it is not just a medical or cosmetical procedures. Woman should also keep in mind that with a combination of healthy nutrients, physical treatments, exercise & positive thinking, it will make it that much easier to achieve their desired results.


These are some options that we recommend to build a cellulite treatment at home:

NUTRIENTS:

Cayenne Pepper: It’s a spice. Benefits: Burns fat by increasing the body temperature, Increases the blood circulation. Use: Add to your foods as much as possible. Caution: It’s very hot!

Gelatin: Yes, gelatin!. Benefits: Increase the muscle strength. Use: Consume 2 tablespoon daily.

Omega 3: It’s a group of polyunsaturated fatty acids which are mainly found in fish, cod liver oil and chia seeds. Benefits: Help in collagen production and breaking down fat cells. Use: Eat fish! (not fried). Cod liver oil: Consume 1 tablespoon a day. Chia: Consume 2-3 tablespoon a day adding it to your juices and water.

Detox: It’s a diet regime that only include the consumption of unprocessed fruits and vegetables (organics preferred). Benefits: Heal the cells, provide antioxidants and anti-inflammatories nutrients, help to clean the liver and to lose weight. Use: Drink fruits and vegetables juices. Caution: Watch the sodium levels!.

Hydration: Is the process of providing the body with its water-based liquid requirements. Benefits: Is a physiological need, anything else to say?...yes: improve the looks of your skin and help with detox. Use: Drink at least 8 glass of water every day.

Maca: It’s an herbaceous plant natural of high Peruvian Andes. Benefits: Improve the hormonal balance. Use: Add extracts of dry maca root or maca flour to your recipes. Caution: Maca consumption in women who use hormonal contraceptives is not advisable because it may interfere with them by altering hormone levels.

Green Tea: It’s a chinese tea made of Camellia Sinensis leaves. Benefits: Helps burn fat. Use: Drink 3-4 cups a day.

Tomatoes: Yes, tomatoes!. Benefits: Contains lycopene that makes cellulite less visible by preventing collagen degradation. Use: Add tomatoes paste to your recipes.

Gotu Kola: Also known as Centella Asiatica, it’s a perennial herbaceous plant from Asia. Benefits: Contains forskolin that helps to disintegrate the elements that cause the formation of cellulite. Use: Prepare tea of Centella Asiatica leaves and drink it 2-3 times daily. Caution: Just have it during 4-6 weeks, with 2-3 series of 2 weeks, taking 2 weeks rests in between of each. Don’t use it if you have liver problems.

Ginkgo Biloba: It’s a living fossil tree native to China. Benefits: Improves the blood circulation that favors move the cellulite fat to the muscles to be more easily burned. Use: Prepare tea and drinking 2 times daily.

Flaxseed: It’s the seed of the herbaceous plant of flax. Benefits: Boost the growth of collagen that makes skin stronger. Use: Eat two tablespoon daily or add it to your foods.

Orange Juice: Again…Yes, orange juice! Benefits: Contains vitamin C that depurate the blood and hydrate the skin. Use: Drink natural orange juice at everyday breakfast.


PHYSICAL MEANS:

Dry Brushing: This is one of the techniques most widely used by girls, their secret weapon against cellulite. In addition to reducing cellulite, it also eliminates dead cells, strengthens the immune system, improves blood circulation, detoxifies the skin and removes impurities. Natural bristle brushes are recommended. Do this before shower, with body dry, brush towards your heart to stimulate the lymphatic system, first with your feet, second your legs, then brush in circles on the knees, brush your thighs, take a quickly cold water shower (mainly in your legs).

Massages: The more popular massages are those made with the next ingredients as main components: moisturize, coffee grounds, juniper oil, seaweed, apple cider vinegar, birch oil, aloe vera, hot castor oil, coconut oil, green Clay, tangerine essential oil, olive oil.

Exercises: The goal is to burn the fat of cellulite. The way to achieve this is with physical activity in the form of aerobic and anaerobic exercises. The more popular routines are: kettlebells, glutes kickback, lunge exercise, squats for thigh, leg pull exercise. Talk to a gym trainer for better results.

Detox Bath: These are therapeutic baths based on osmosis processes between body fluids and the water specially prepared for bathing. Also the body will absorb, through the pores of the skin, the minerals of the used ingredients. Use: Fill tub with enough warm water and add: 1/4 cup Sea Salt , 1/4 cup Epsom Salt, 1/4 cup Baking Soda, 1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar. Mix and relax during 20 min. Do it once a week.
